Does perscription acne medication lower birth control effectiveness?
I am on my second month of Loestrin birth control, and i recently started taking Minocycline and Benzaclin for acne medication. Is it possible to take both of these at once? Will the minocycline lower my birth control effectiveness? If so, how much? and would it be pointless to even still be taking birth control?okay thank you! :) i wasn 't going to start the acne meds because i knew birth control would help with that, but it didn 't help as soon as it needed too. i 'm not really dependent on the pill because i 'm not having sex, it 's more of a "just in case " thing for fooling around or IF for some reason we should end up having sex. i didn 't know then if the acne meds would interfere so much that the birth control would be pointless for me to even take?

ive been suffering acne for 2 years. ive been trying many over the counter and drug store acne products. its jst keeps gettin worse and worse. and for these past 4 months ive been breaking out at my chin and cheek area. and now i have like more than 10 zits on each side of my face. just a month ago the doctor prescribed my brother acne medication and i used some of it. it didnt work. now im thinking of asking my doctor for birth control pills or hopefully a stronger acne medication. which one should i highly request to my doctor?

I bought this cleanser thats called neutrogena acne stress control . my skin is clear. last night i used neutrogena acne stress control. then i started having pimples on my right cheek. i never touched my face. and i eat healthy foods no oily foods. and i drank alot of water. is the neutrogena acne stress control making my skin have pimples? btw when i put it on it burns my face.

Birth control and Antibiotic for acne treatment?
I am both on Birth control (I switched to a new kind after two months of another birth control just making my acne worse) and an Antibiotic. Is this proven to yield better results then just birth control? Or will the antibiotic cancel the action of the birth control? I am on a low-ish dose of birth control. I am young, and also the Gynecologist told me that a high dose of birth control can make my skin worse. Do you think that this will work together well?
I have hormonal acne and am on birth control. Why?
I plan on going to a dermatologist soon, but I don 't understand. The same birth control I took as a teenager for my acne doesn 't seem to be working for it now. I know it 's hormonal because it 's mostly under or along my jaw line. And the week I take the placebo pills, my face clears up. Normally, it 's the opposite in women. I don 't understand, I though birth control helps acne not makes it. I know my hormones change through the years, but should I just get off of it and see what happens?

Recently, I 've been having continuous moderate acne breakouts, which when healed leave behind a very noticeable dark mark. I 've been battling this phenomenon continuously for about a year now, and the problem is really starting to get to me. So far, I have tried Nucelle, (which didn 't work and darkened my skin a bit, almost like a slight burn) I 've tried a few of Neutrogena 's products. (currently using the acne stress control) Many work some, but not to the level that I need it. I 've been to the dermatologist, and there I was prescribed Glytone and everything seemed be too harsh, (had that slight burnt look again) except for the benzoyl peroxide acne clearing gel which I still currently use. Anyway I need help! Anyone who suffers from acne knows that it can really do a job on your self esteem. If anyone can help with suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Just to give you a little history on the type of skin I have, I am about the same complexion as "Janet Jackson ", I have combination/ oily skin, my skin seems to be sensitive ( because some products seem too harsh and kind of darken my skin) yet resistant ( because my skin keeps breaking out and hyperpigmenting) regardless of what I do. I would love to try something that has worked for someone else, especially if you have had some of the same problems that I have. Sorry for the length of this, thank you in advance for your help! : )
Do oral antibiotics help control hormonal acne?
I have hormonal acne mainly on my chin, as well as acne on the rest of my face. I use Retin-A and Duac together (my dermatologist told me to do this, by the way) and my skin is looking great.Only problem is, I 'm about to start my period and I 've gotten a few new pimples (big pimples, not just whiteheads or blackheads) on my chin, similar to the ones I 've had before.My dermatologist also prescribed an oral antibiotic to help control acne all over my body, as well as on my face. I have been on the antibiotic for about 3 weeks, and I haven 't noticed a significant difference.My question is: do oral antibiotics help control hormonal acne?

Okay, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in October 2007. I 've been on Desogen(brand of birth control) up until April, and if I stop taking birth control, my PCOS will flare up and then I could become sterile. So, I switched doctors and he put me on Yaz. And everything was fine. But, for the past month and a half, my acne on my left cheek is out the roof, and it itches and hurts. I won 't see my doctor until November. What should I do? Call him, or start using acne treatments?

Hi, I 'm 18 and i have developed uncontrollable acne. even though when i was younger i had breakout every now and then, it just got worst over the summer. When i went to india and it was really really hot. My acne got really bad...i broke out in 6-10 places all over my face. i have very very bad scarring on my face from over the summer that i didn 't even wanna be seen outside. I came back to the virginia and its a bit better but now that i use clearasil cream and clean and clear facial wash...my skin is very very dry all the time and my face is breaking out every day with a pus pimple which then turns into a bump under my skin..and thats why my face hurt. if anybody has any products or ways to help me control my acne that would be great!
Nothing I do gets rid of my acne. How can I control it?
I have never had a problem with acne before, but recently, it became extremely bad, especially on the sides of my face. I don 't get deep acne, but rather, hundreds of little whiteheads. And every day, I seem to get more and more. I also think I am beginning to get acne scars on the sides of my face.I cannot figure out why I 'm suddenly having such horrible acne. My mom thinks it 's because I wear liquid cover up every day and she says that all liquid cover ups clog your pores. Is this true? Do you think if I stopped wearing liquid cover up, my acne might reduce? I 'm also a teen, and my hormones, I know, are out of control right now. (Having a lot of "girl " problems because of hormones too.)I don 't know what to do. I 've tried many acne treatments. No over the counter treatments (Clearasil, Proactive, etc) work for me. Then I tried Differin. I had a horrible reaction which resulted in me spending half the night with my face under the faucet. I 'm now using Benzaclin, which mildly reduces my acne but not nearly as much as it should.Should I see a dermatologist? The only thing is, I don 't know what they can do to help me.... Because I 've already tried almost every acne treatment. My doctor said that a dermatologist could prescribe be antibiotics for acne, but it might cause yeast infections and there 's NO WAY I am taking that chance. She also suggested birth control, however, my mom won 't let me go on it, and I understand, because I have read about birth control being linked to cancer.Please help!!
Cystic acne linked to irregular use of birth control pills? Please Help?
I suffered from very bad acne as a teenager. I started taking the contraceptive pill (Dianette) when I was 16 and over the course of two years it cleared up my acne. I still got the occassional break-out but nothing major. I also have some acne scarring.Anyway earlier this year I stopped taking the pill as I didn 't like the idea of taking unnecessary hormones etc. My acne did not return, I had no skin problems apart from, again, the odd pimple. Everything was fine.About a month ago I started taking Dianette again (for contraception). However I divide my time between two houses and regularly forget to take it, missing one or two pills a week. This week I developed what I am assuming is cystic acne on my face - three really big hard lumps under the skin on my chin, very painful, like acne spots except nothing but oil comes out - when I attempted to squeeze two of them (no white pus, just clear oil).In all my years of suffering from acne I have never got this kind of severe cystic acne. They are huge and horrible. What do I do? Continue on Dianette and take it every day? Or stop taking it altogether? What can I do to prevent any more forming?Please help!:( Is my recent development of cysitc acne linked to/ caused by taking the pill irregularly?

I discontinued oral contraceptives about a year and a half ago after about 10 yrs. And since then i have had acne breakouts like im going thru puberty all over again. About YAZ birth control and acne...?
I 've been on the YAZ birth control pill for over a year and a half now. My skin was so amazingly beautiful and clear (rare for me) about 4 months ago. It was really a self-esteem booster. About 2 months ago I started breaking out. It started with one huge cystic pimple on my cheek... and then 2 on my chin.. and then 2 on my lip.. and they just kept adding up and now I 'm covered in embarrassing scars and even more approaching pimples. The cycle doesn 't seem to be halting any time soon... :( I don 't understand what happened. I also lost a good amount of weight on YAZ, and I 'm currently at 121 lbs (I don 't seem to GAIN weight easily any more.. ). I 'm wondering if the weight loss plus the onset of acne is a sign that something is wrong internally, maybe hormonally?Any ideas are greatly appreciated...I 'm 20, and have suffered with acne since age 11 or so.

Ive been on birth control pills, tri-sprintec for 2 mos now, and it seems like my acne has gotten worse, especially on my chin. Is this supposed to happen on the pill? I don 't really think my acne breakouts are hormonal since I didn 't have them as a teenager and since they aren 't really any worse or better depending on my cycle.it 's really only been a problem off and on for the past few years. I do know that my skin is acne prone and that alot of different ingredients in makeup/ hair products cause my skin to break out(I don 't have any problems with pimples if I don 't use these things)so what I 'm wondering is if the birth control pills would make my skin less acne prone/ make me produce less oil and if this would also make my skin less sensitive to ingredients in cosmetics that currently break me out?
