Acne - Skin Care

Question: Need opinion on cures for pre-menstrual acne.. desperate!?

I'm 19 with pretty normal/relatively clear skin except for when i start ovulating..then BAM i get one or two big, painful pimples. they are SERIOUS..they last for a week at times! ... I just picked up some ortho tri cyclen lo that my doctor prescribed to me after assuring me it would regulate my hormones to eliminate my acne flare-up problem. but i read tons of reviews on how it makes you break out even more! is the regular ortho tri cyclen any better? or how about accutane? does that help with menstrual acne? MANY THANKS

Yes in some people it can cause worse acne, but in most it will help clear hormonal flares. I don 't know of a difference between regular and the lo. Since you only have monthly flares, the risks of accutane may not be best for you. Talk with a dermatologist or other MD to find out what 's best for you. Since office amnesia <forgetting what u want to ask the MD > happens, I suggest writing down your questions and concerns ahead of time. Good luck.
