All acne is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, which is made up of a hair follicle sebaceous gland and a hair these units are every where except palms of hands, bottom of feet and lower lips. This is greatest on the face neck chest and backs. These produce a substance called sebum, which is responsible for keeping the skin and hair moisturized. Hormones are produced A bacteria knowen as propionibacteria acne is an normal inhabitant of the skin. It uses sebum as a nutrient for growth therefore increases in follicles during puberty. The presence of bacteria attracts white blood cells to the follicle these produce an enzyme that damages the wall of the follicle allowing the contents of the follicle to enter thr dermis. This process causes inflammatory seen as a papules (red bump) the bacteria causes free fatty acids to irritate increasing the inflammator process in the follicle. Problems arise when the sebum is trapped in the hair follicle. (reason is unknowen) Some become obstructed this sebum gets stuck on the way out of body and start to get sticky plugging up this hair follicel this is called comedogenesis. Some follicles become a acne called comedonesAKA blackheads & whiteheads. Heredity= could or could not be Foods do not cause this (acne) Stress does not cause this but picking and popping or squessing can help to spread this in other places. Sweat does not cause this either Dirt does not cause this either(dirt is an oxidized oil) Excessive washing can cause and irritate the skin Changing hormones will cause this. Cosmentics if not oil free will caus the acne as well. Some medications may cause or make worse steroids for bipolar disorders the type work a person does as well will also help in causing this. Try to avoid most greasy foods deep fried or others that are soaked with grease oil your body does not need extra oils. Drink plenty of water this is great Get a proper rest going on (sleep) Wash face with a anti-ance products-wash well, cleansing , and toneing. If severe may wish to get medications from your health care provider. If do buy cleaners try to get the ones that have ingredients such as salicy acid, licochalone, chamomile, aloe vera, feverfew or niacinamide. or see a dermatologist for more treatments or medications to help you. |

From what I 've read, Acne is almost entirely do to hormones, not a bad diet and only minimally to long-lasting stress. It can be prevented and treated, although there is no real cure. If it is only minor, then go get OTC medications and try those, but if it persists see a dermatologist who will likely prescribe a combination of prescription medications. None of the Over The Counter stuff, like proactiv, neutrogena, etc., worked for me, but the dermatologist gave me several prescriptions that really helped with acne. Also there are several home remedies you could look up online and try. |
