Weird skin reaction to acne treatment?

Question: Weird skin reaction to acne treatment?

(Posted by: Lisa on 2009-07-03 15:48:25)

I have prom in SIX DAYS. For about a month I've been using a bunch of different ance treatments on my back, which needed it. It's cleared up LOADS, but now the skin on my back and neck is going red/purple and flaking. It goes away after a few days of using baby lotion on it thought. But still... I can't stop my spot treatment, since they'd come back right before prom. But at the same time I can't have sore skin on my back for prom... help! My back is strapless... so it'll show my whole back! I could use fake tan perhaps.. but it might look silly on me... would foundation help to cover them up? They're just little red patches now.

For sore skin try aloe vera maybe, its good for skin. I had acne for years and eventually had to go to my doctor. For prom, maybe trying covering them up with fake tan, that could work well. Good luck and enjoy prom :)

I think you should go back to your doctor if you have any hope of this getting any better within 6 days, also either sitting out in the sun or using a sunbed every now and then for a short period of time is suposed to help bad skin. im not promoting the use of sunbeds by the way i mean the sunbeds they use for light treatment in hospitals which arnt as strong as the ones in the salons :) have a nice time at your prom!

What you use for the acne may dry your skin, hence why it would flake? Dead skin just coming off. As for the red/ purple bit im not so sure about, maybe bruising or something? Very late notice but ask your doctor for some Oxytetracycline..or spelled similar lol, best thing!
